A great big THANK YOU to our parent community for supporting the staff in their trip to San Diego to attend the American Montessori Society annual conference! Not only did the staff get to collaborate, network and meet with other Montessori professionals from around the United States and the World, but it also provided a wonderful chance to get to know one another better. We enjoyed valuable workshops and breakout sessions with experts in the field, as well as inspiring keynote speakers Nicholas Kristof, Jessica Lahey and Sonia Manzano. If you are unfamiliar with these influential authors, please check out their work and how it relates to Montessori’s mission. The theme of this year’s conference was “Beyond Borders” and it was an especially important theme given our current social and political climate. Perhaps the most gratifying part of the experience was being surrounded by thousands of other Montessori professionals who share Montessori’s vision for a peaceful world through education, by following and supporting the natural development of each child. We know that taking school days off can be hectic with busy schedules, but I promise that the time was well spent and will translate into a better learning environment for your children.
Our Spring Celebration is almost upon us, and we are welcoming the warm sun! Please join the students for a short concert, followed by our annual “Bulb Hunt”. Festivities begin at 11am on Friday, March 17 and pick-up is at noon. Our Spring Break lasts from 3/20-3/24 and we resume school on Monday, March 27.
Our Parent-Teacher Conferences are also coming up. Sign-ups for conference slots will be available soon, so check with your child’s teacher about this important opportunity to discuss your child’s growth and development over the year.
