BCMS Needs Your Support!
Dear families, Past and Present
The board of directors for Brush Creek Montessori have an urgent message to share about the special place we have in common.
Brush Creek Montessori has been trusted by families like yourselves, to teach children in the method of Dr. Maria Montessori for nearly 50 years. From our youngest saplings to our elementary students, BCMS has made a commitment to developing caring, responsible and imaginative world citizens. These are qualities that drew you to our program and hopefully remain in your hearts. Brush Creek Montessori provides a much needed alternative education in Sonoma County, but because of our current business environment, our future is unclear
Though Sonoma County has become accustomed to adversity and the need to adjust to disruptions, the situation in which we find ourselves now is like nothing anyone of our generation has faced. Like businesses across the country, the sudden and sustained loss of income means our school faces an uncertain future. To help the school weather this storm we made the difficult decision to furlough our entire faculty, and though this creates an uneasy feeling, it allows them to take advantage of government safety nets and frees up our savings to pay rent and bills for a longer time period while not collecting tuition. It’s an unfortunate situation to say the least, but it’s allowed BCMS to stretch its funds during our indefinite closure. In the meantime, those same staff members are amazingly and voluntarily coming in, or conducting online sessions with children to provide them with some normalcy until the time when we will be allowed to safely and confidently reopen.
Given the financial toll of closing a business indefinitely and our inability to hold our critical annual fundraiser, the BCMS Board, along with Jed and Jessica, have been investigating additional financial resources including through the CARES Act. In addition, we have launched a gofundme campaign (gf.me/u/xy8hvm) to raise money in support of our school. We realize that donating to a fundraiser may be difficult at this moment and that many people in our community, probably some of our own families, are facing difficult times. Our fundraiser campaign is an ambitious one but as you know, BCMS is worth fighting to save and we are determined to be here for our children and our families. Any dollar amount that you may be able to spare will have real impact, but we would also appreciate your help in spreading the word about our campaign to those in your personal circles. With your financial support and help sharing our campaign, we believe we’ll be able to navigate whatever comes.
