Testimonials

When I look back at my time at Brush Creek Montessori, I am most new-photos-398_webthankful for the opportunity it gave me to develop as a child truly interested in learning. I also met lifelong friends at Brush Creek Montessori, with whom, to this day, I keep in close contact. I cherish my time at Brush Creek and appreciate how unique the learning experience was. It inspired me to ask questions, invest time in topics that interested me, and develop a passion for knowledge. Brush Creek Montessori gave me the tools I needed to succeed not only in school, but in my life.

Brietta Linney, BCMS elementary alumnus, now an Environmental Policy Consultant, San Francisco

"I can't imagine having sent my children to any other school here in Sonoma County. My daughter’s passion for saving the environment began at BCMS where she learned that "everything counts." While there are many choices of schools, very few offer the same kind of loving, academic, and beautiful atmosphere!"

"We feel so fortunate to have been able to provide our girls with a true Montessori experience and count the teachers there as part of the village that set our girls up for success."

"Each classroom has a strong Montessori foundation, encouraging students to work through problems, help others, and be aware of their environment. My daughter has expressed a balance of independence, confidence, and curiosity from her time at Brush Creek Montessori School."

"Our older son graduated 6th grade from BCMS after nine years in this wonderful school environment. We still have our eight-year-old in the lower elementary program and wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Montessori program offers so much for the growing child.  The smaller classes, hands on experiences, thinking and standing up for themselves, making decisions and being independent are all great values being taught here. The teachers and staff are wonderful and I can’t think of a better place to be for a child that is learning to transition into the “world” as they grow older. They come out of this program with a great sense of confidence and they feel secure about who they are and what they want to accomplish next.

A great sense of camaraderie and some strong friendships have been made, both between kids and parents, that will last a lifetime we hope. We feel very comfortable with our son transitioning into a larger middle school and onto a much larger high school. We give a huge credit to this school for that."

Marie Clay, former BCMS parent

"My child thrived in the Montessori setting of Brush Creek Montessori School. Starting in the Primary, each child is self-directed.  Later, in the elementary classrooms, children take on increasingly advanced academic challenges and while there is core work to complete, there is room to explore individual lessons as they choose.

What is different from other schools is having the teacher as a guide and not an authoritarian figurehead. My child responded well to this structure.

I so appreciate that the child attends one class with one teacher for two-three years, and that the ages of the children are mixed. And the Peace Education component, created by Maria Montessori, is woven into the everyday lessons.  Furthermore, respect for the earth, respect for others, and helping younger children is a staple of the BCMS philosophy.

BCMS enrichment programs--such as music, band, guitar, drama, art, and creative writing--were the cornerstones that allowed my son to thrive.

BCMS respects the individual learning style and unique potential each child brings to the school."

Marguerite Gudenzi, former BCMS parent.

"We couldn't have been happier with this school! She grew into an independent, curious, and thoughtful learner. The staff were so caring and wonderful with her that we chose to send her back for summer sessions even after we moved on to public schools. We are especially grateful for the conflict resolution skills she developed through the Peace Education program."
