  • Redwood Primary classroom full-day students: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Elementary & Middle School classrooms: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Extended Care: 7:30-8:45 AM and 3:00-5:30 PM

School Year: September-June, with an optional summer program available

Location: Our school is located in south-east Santa Rosa, on Brush Creek Road between HWY 12 and Montecito Ave.

Educational Philosophy: Montessori (AMS Affiliated)

Classrooms: Multi-age by 3-5, 5-8, 8-12 and 12-15 years, allowing each child to work individually at his or her own pace.

Primary (3-5 years) Curriculum: Mathematics, Language, Science, Geography, History, Practical Life, Sensorial, Cultural, Social Skills, Spanish, Music, Art

Elementary Curriculum: Anthropology, Art, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Drama, Earth Science, Ecology, Geography, Geology, Geometry, History, Language, Latin, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Sociology, and Zoology.

Middle School Curriculum: Anthropology, Art, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Drama, Earth Science, Ecology, Geography, Geology, Geometry, History, Language, Latin, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Sociology, and Zoology. In addition to their regular studies, Middle School students participate in the Roots and Shoots Youth Council, Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Committee and Maria Montessori United Nations Project.

Technology: Older children use classroom computers that are linked to the Internet for research and writing.

Foreign Language: Spanish

Director: Susan Cohn is twice a recipient of the Johns Hopkins Excellence in Teaching Award. She has been a Montessori teacher since 1982 and a Teacher Trainer since 1990. Ms. Cohn has a distinguished history as a school Director, and was honored with the CTY Director’s Award from Johns Hopkins University. Before taking over as Director at Brush Creek Montessori School, Susan founded her own school in Santa Rosa, Montessori Visions, which taught toddlers through third grade from 1984 to 1995. Ms. Cohn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and holds Montessori Certification for Primary, Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary.
